The nature of construction and set-up, of the work is temporary in a theatrical sense. It develops to the 'object' being used as a prop might be. The placement and scale bring to attention the involvement of the site, the architecture, and the person negotiating the work. The mass of the sculpture is created from compressed 2D materials into a volume. The light spreads to fill the mass, creating solidity. Any leaking light spreads to the walls bringing them into the situation. The deflection of light inside the internal space, keeps the electrical light circulating, contained. Oversized, the work does not use light for dramatic effect, but as another material in balance. The industrial scale of the materials is transformative of their DIY shop origins. Their non-art state hints at other fields of production, design and waste. The collaboration of paper and chicken wire result in evidence of the making imposed on the piece. Scratches, floor dirt, and grease easily mess the exterior. The impermanence implies the permanent condition of the surrounding building and light structures, which will endure longer than the work. This time-limited wrapped space hints at future occupiers of these architecturally defined areas.
