Last year I took this little boat on holiday to the coast of North Wales. I drove all the way up the motorway with it secured to the roof-rack with 10m of sash cord. Before I went fishing I bought myself 14m of fancy sailing rope so I wouldn't get annoyed with kinks and tangles when I put the anchor down. One day the wind got up, making waves slap angrily at the nose of the boat. Suddenly (and with a bang), the rope went slack as the anchor came untied and I started to drift out to sea, the rope trailing in the water behind me.

A guy came up to me the other day as I climbed awkwardly out the boot of my car, and asked me what was wrong with the car doors that had made me rope them closed. When I told him "nothing's wrong with my car"he says "well what's the purpose of the rope then?"
